A Banbury football club has claimed four awards at the annual Oxfordshire Football Association’s Grassroots Football Awards ceremony.

Players and coaches at Longford Park Football Club attended the awards evening held at Oxford United’s Kassam Stadium on Saturday (June 29).

The club, which was only founded during the pandemic, was the most successful in attendance, picking up awards in four different categories.

Chairman at Longford Park Football Club Brent Lennard said: “We have been on a journey and have experienced challenges like every other grassroots club.

"Thank you to the committee, the management, the players, the volunteers, sponsors, charity partners and everyone who has supported us over the past few years. We could not have achieved this award without the input, hard work and dedication from all of you.

"We are immensely proud to win these awards and cannot wait to continue on our journey to help support the community of Oxfordshire.”.

As county winners, Longford Park Football Club will now be entered for consideration at the regional-level Football Association Awards.

A win at those awards would see the Banbury club put forward for a chance to win a national award, which would be presented at the FA Community Shield fixture at Wembley Stadium next season.

The Oxfordshire FA Grassroots Football Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the dedication and hard work of local grassroots football coaches, leagues, clubs, volunteers and officials.
